The AIR SAVE project is led by University of Malta and funded for 3 years by the Malta Council for Science & Technology through the FUSION R&I Technology Development Programme 2021. The main goal of this project is to develop, produce, test and commercialise a smart system which improves the sustainability of compressed air systems and hence the competitiveness of manufacturing firms. The smart AIR SAVE system shall continuously monitor the compressed air system’s performance from environmental and economic points of view.
AIR SAVE shall use Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) to identify, distinguish and classify inefficiency sources such as leakages and/or malfunctioning actuators on the demand side of compressed air systems in real-time. To successfully achieve this goal, the Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering (DIME) that leads this project, teamed up with AIM Enterprises Ltd which has a vast experience in automation and pneumatic systems
